North Carolina School for the Deaf Historical Museum was established in April, 1977. It was spearheaded as a Senior Project by Jimmy Autrey, NCSD Class of 1977. Originally, it was located in the Main Building common area adjacent to the auditorium until Main Building was closed for a 5 year renovation in 1997. The museum was relocated to the former Superintendent's House (picture on left) in 2003 to the present.
Due to limited volunteers for tours, please arrange 1 week advance notice of your coming. Museum hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 AM unless otherwise noted for special events such as our annual Homecoming event. We are open year round except holidays. Admission is free, but donation is appreciated to upkeep the museum functions. NCSD Historical Museum is a non-profit 501(c) organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). All contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
